December 2023 - Boys Football
Mr Deanus and Mr Gurteen took the boys to a Harrow league tournament at Bannisters Sports centre on the 6th December. It turned out to be lovely day were the sun was shining, even if it was a bit cold. The tournament was based around 4 matches Vs local Harrow schools.
Our first match was against St Anselms. It was a very close game and bothteams had chances to score early on. The first goal was scored by Raphael with a fantastic solo run and lovely finish to put us 1-0 up. After being under pressure for a while St Anselms finally got an equaliser with only 2 minutesleft. The match ended 1-1 and it was a good solid start to the tournament.
The next match was against St Josephs who were very strong and had won their previous match 4-0. They started quickly and went a few goals up very early on in the match. As the game went on we started to compete more and tackle as a team. However, they went on to score a further 2 goals to win the match 4-0. There was no time to feel sorry for ourselves as we had another match in 10 minutes. This was against Krishna Avanti. This match was the complete opposite. We won the match very convincingly with two goals from Taylan and Raphael who secured an excellent victory for Roxeth.
The last match was against Weald Rise. Again a very close game in which both sides had chances but could not find the back of the net. The match ended 0-0. So overall the boys won one, drew two and lost one. This meant that we finished 3 in our group out of 5 teams. We were only 1 goal from being 2nd in the league! It was a great effort by all of the children who conducted themselves brilliantly and were a credit to the school. Mr Gurteen and myself were very proud the team. These results take us in tothe new year were we will be put against other teams that have finished 3rd in their local leagues. Well done to the following players: Jian, Raphael, Taylan, Ishaaq, Shaan, Alexandru, Zavi, Arhaan, Gareth, Arjun and Ano. The girls football team will be in action in January.
