Harrow Junior Book Award 2022
On Thursday June 9th some Year 6 pupils attended the Harrow Junior Book Award 2022 Ceremony at Pinner Park School.
This is an annual prize giving ceremonyfor the best children’s fiction book decided by pupils in Year 6 in schools across Harrow.
There were 16 Harrow Primary Schools at the event.
The 8 pupils from Roxeth School who took part were Pearl, Giuseppe, William, Tomike, Yasmeen, Ruby, Ryan and Benaia.
All pupils had read the six novels, over the last 7 months, on the shortlist and had voted for their favourite.
This year the guest of honour was the prize winning children’s author Elizabeth Laird. She spoke about all her books and her life story and then answered questions. The Roxeth pupils spoke to this famous novelist and she signed copies of her books.
The Roxeth pupils who took part in this event were pleased because the book they voted as their favourite won the overall award, the Junior Book Award 2022– this book is called The Night Bus Hero by Onjali Q Rauf.
Taking part in these awards promotes reading in the school and also encourages readers to broaden their reading experience.
The pupils enjoyed the ceremony and have written book reviews of all the novels. Copies of the 6 books shortlisted are now in the school library.
